What is Paragon Heatlh Industries about?
The differential diagnosis, in medical terms, is the diagnosis that tells the patient what is wrong. This is the medical apogee or Everest.
The truth is, it’s hard to uncover the cause of every disease or pain. Maybe the real cause of your problem is what your mother ate when she was pregnant with you or the mental stress she was under at the time? Maybe it’s the lead solder in the copper pipes you had at home? Maybe you had a pet and the interactions you had contributed to your issue? Some of us can blame our parent’s genes …
The point is, what needs to be identified is the relationship and interactions between the nominated condition and a multitude of other factors. Our bodies are ruled by the law of cause and effect. Most of us do well because we have the capacity to adapt to a given lesion (the human body and mind are amazing!). We even have the capacity to adapt to the adaption! But what happens when we run out of the capacity to adapt? Or when we have been coping but we have made so many adaptions, often below our threshold of perception, that a seemingly inconsequential incident brings us years of pain or illness because we were on the precipice of collapse?
Why do some people get bitten by a bee and develop Lyme’s disease and others don’t? Why do some people get glandular fever and recover quite well while others testify to a life before infection and to a different life afterwards? You were assured the pain in your side would go when your gallbladder was removed, so why does it continue? You sprained your ankle a few years ago and recently you’ve developed back pain …
The difference between the diagnosis and the symptoms is similar to the disparity between general, current therapeutic practice which is disease centred, and the Paragon Health Industries health model which is patient centred. The point of difference at Paragon Health is rather than just trying to name or work with the diagnosis, therapists should make an effort to identify and understand the causes that led to the development of the illness or injury in each individual.
As mentioned though, sometimes the cause isn’t apparent. This is where the innate wisdom of the body comes into play. Our grand design is geared towards health and survival. If we can tap into appropriate anatomical systems, assess them for their function and health, and if we can give these systems a nudge in the right direction, where possible, your body will pick up the ball and run with it. It is how we are genetically wired. The skill is in learning how to ‘listen’ to the body in order to determine in which direction it’s best to nudge.
Paragon Health Industries represents a worldwide collection of therapeutic skills and science dedicated to the manual, physical, biomechanical, physiological, and emotional treatment of human dysfunction. Sometimes this is in conjunction with an integrative medicine specialist, specialist naturopath, psychologist or other specialties like speech therapy.
The approach is essentially ‘in the hands’, dealing with a variety of tissue dysfunction in the organs, the fascial system, the brain, the neuromeningeal system, the vascular system, the lymphatic system, the autonomic nervous system, the joints and the cranial system, just to name a few. Please see the specialties pages for more information.
